Approved Record of the April 21st, 2020 Proceedings of the Platte County Commissioners in Wheatland, WY –  A Special Meeting of the Board of County Commissioners was called to order at 5:00 P.M.. The meeting was held via Zoom Video Conferencing to avoid congregating people to avoid the spread of the infectious disease COVID-19. The purpose of the meeting was to connect with each Platte County Department Head and Elected Official to obtain the status of their departments and to discuss the County’s response during the spread of COVID-19. The elected officials present were: Sandy Kontour, Commission Chairman; Malcolm Ervin, County Clerk; Kristi Rietz, County Treasurer; Clyde Harris, Sheriff; Danette Eppel, Assessor; and Mona McAuley, Clerk of District Court. Department heads present were: Nicole Sticka, Public Health; Terry Stevenson, Emergency Management; James “Beal” Angle, Road & Bridge; Julie Henion, Library; Jordan Ham, WyoLogic Inc. (County IT); Amy Clark, County Planner; Mary Evans and Stacy Bucholz, Ag. Extension. Members of the public present were: Merlin Hitt, Platte County Economic Development and Jennifer Webb, Wyoming Probation & Parole. Chairman Kontour asked for updates from Public Health and Emergency Management. Ms. Sticka said Public Health had begun wearing masks for all the services they provide and have been asking members of the public to wear masks upon entering the building. Mr. Stevenson addressed the number of fatalities and confirmed cases in Wyoming and how those would affect Governor Gordon’s decision to extend the public health orders, nor not. Chairman Kontour asked whether any offices had updates, or changes, from the previous weeks. Ag. Extension did report that the University of Wyoming prohibit any university activities through June 30th. Ms. Bucholz said the Platte County Extension office has asked for an exception to this mandate. No other departments had any updates, or changes, to report. The best place for the public to access information about how COVID-19 impacts Platte County is the County’s website, www.plattecountywyoming.com.  Mrs. Kontour said there would be another department head meeting, via Zoom, on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at 5:00 PM. Mrs. Kontour did say that there could be a special meeting called before that date if Platte County has their first confirmed COVID-19 case.
