For the Record-Times
WHEATLAND — Project SAFE is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving victims of crime, including domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and other crimes.
They have a single unit emergency shelter, and offer many services, including assistance acquiring restitution, state crime victim reimbursement, protection orders, court watches, emergency assistance, advocacy and many other services.
They are primarily grant-funded, but there are many items grants don’t cover that are necessary to a victim’s safety and well-being. They hold fundraisers to cover those costs.
In the last year, Project SAFE served 212 victims of crime within Platte County.
