WHEATLAND – The Platte County Ministerial Association hosted a dinner on a night to celebrate the outgoing seniors in the annual Senior Appreciation & Baccalaureate service May 17 at the Platte County Agriplex.

A baccalaureate service is a specific celebration that honors a graduating class from a collegehigh school, or middle school. The event is usually a Christian-based interdenominational service.

The Agriplex was filled with seniors, parents, faculty, administration and students to help say goodbye and God speed to the seniors who were about to graduate.

The night began with the smooth sounds of jazz provided by the Wheatland High School jazz band and entertainers directed by WHS musical director Evan Bradley. While the dinner was being served, many were found chewing and tapping their feet at the same time.

A welcome and a blessing was first on the agenda as Pastor Jeremy Haroldson from Impact Ministries addressed the crowd.

Clergy that came together for a common cause worked together in an outstanding display of unity and the opening ceremony was brought forth by First Christian Church Pastor Casey Schroder. This was followed by special music from outgoing senior Grace Hanni who brought ooohs, aahhhs and tears from the crowd who knew it would be their last time getting to hear this talented senior sing.

Hannah Nelson then came forth with some thoughts for life which was followed by a gospel reading from Pastor David Weber from Community by Grace.

Once again, Seniors took center stage as the WHS senior quartet of Kayla Beaman, Daniel Collins, Deacan Heinz and Bradley Rittel brought forth special music.

Audrey Lucas then presented her thoughts for life followed by an Epistle reading from Father Terry Archbold from St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

The Closing prayer was offered up by Shirley Keil from Impact Ministries.
