Platte County FFA chapters do well at state convention

CHEYENNE — Wheatland and Chugwater Future Farmers of America chapters did well at the 91st annual Wyoming State FFA convention April 18-21 in Cheyenne.

Wheatland
The Wheatland High School FFA chapter finished second overall in the chapter sweepstakes behind the Snowy Range chapter from Laramie.
Wheatland results:
n ENR: second high team, Austin Pedersen second high individual, Drake Amundson third high individualAgronomy: first high team, Madison Wright first high individual, Loren Mann third high individual

n Marketing Plan: second high team
n Meats: fourth high team
Farm and Ranch Management: 2nd high team, Chase Nickel first high individual
n Livestock Judging: 11th high team
Vet Science: fourth high team, first in Team Activity

Chugwater
Both the Chugwater high school and junior high teams did well, with junior high finishing out in second place for meats evaluation and fourth place for the poultry evaluation competitions.
Megan Sagner was third high individual in both meats and livestock evaluation, and Allie VanWhy was fourth high individual in meats
In addition, Sagner and VanWhy attained first place in their respective divisions for the agriscience fair, while Sabryna Schaffer, also of Chugwater, won third place for her project.
FFA members from around the state competed in several different career development events such as livestock evaluation, ag mechanics, poultry evaluation and meats evaluation at the state convention.
In addition, the convention featured guest speakers, addresses from the state officers, and a variety of workshops that focused on building character and enhancing leadership skills.
