WHEATLAND – The Platte County Chamber has hired a new executive director, a small business owner from Guernsey – Shawna Reichert.
Reichert moved to the area with her husband, Troy, and daughter, Lakin,10 years ago when Troy took the position of the industrial and technology teaching job in Guernsey.

Reichert serves on the Platte County School District No. 2 board of trustees and owns her own photography business.
“Now that Lakin is in college I had more time to contribute to the community,” Reichert explained was the reason she applied for the position. “I want to help the local businesses grow and I will fight for their interests.”
Reichert went on to explain how she plans to promote the Chamber so people understand what they offer to businesses and that they are here to serve. She plans to expand the social media presence and take advantage of all the avenues available for promotion.
“Being a small business owner myself – I know what’s needed for success and what I would expect the chamber to do for me,” she said with a determined air. “Lots of changes are in store.”
Chamber sponsored event, Oktoberfest, is slated to happen on September 26. Head downtown for free brats provided by Missouri Basin Power Project and served by area banks: First State Bank, Platte Valley Bank and Rolling Hills Bank. A Beer tent and beer steins with an original design created by Rainey Evans and sponsored by Laramie Peak Motors.
