Roy Birt is patched up after giving blood with the help of Chase Thompson, right, with United Blood Services during the blood drive April 30 at First Christian Church, 95 19th St., Wheatland. “The participation of this community is terrific for this blood drive,” Birt said. “They have one every 52 days or so, and there’s just great participation.”
The church hosts its next blood drive June 25.
Thelma Cornwall, blood drive coordinator, estimated 37 units of blood were donated during the drive. She said 37 units is an impressive amount for Wheatland.
“I’m out for blood,” Cornwall said during the event.
