Nichols wraps up summer golf season victorious

Posted

AURORA, Colo. – On Saturday, Aug. 10, Tate Nichols captured the Colorado Junior Golf Association’s 10 & Under Series Championship.  Tate shot three under par with five birdies and two bogeys to win by three strokes.

The golfing aspect of the tournament was no problem for Tate, but the speech he had to give to the gallery after winning the tournament was a first.
Prior to the Colorado Junior Golf Association Championship, he won the last two tournaments in that junior series heading into the championships by shooting even par in both tournaments, winning one by draining a birdie on the first playoff hole.  The playoff win was a special one for Tate since he had his Wheatland buddy and basketball teammate, Ayden Lind, caddying for him during the tournament.
The weekend before the Colorado Championship, he won the Wyoming Junior Amateur Championship 10-12 age group in Worland by fifty strokes for his third straight title.
Tate will wrap up the golf season competing in the U.S. Kids Front Range Fall Golf Tour in hopes of qualifying for next year’s U.S. Kids Junior World Championships held annually at Pinehurst Golf Club in North Carolina.  Overall, the summer golf season was an eventful one for Tate. He is eager to wrap up the fall season on a winning note.
