WHEATLAND - Due to the efforts of the Platte County Ministerial Association, pregnant woman in Wheatland have been provided a FREE source for pregnancy testing and assistance.  The LifeChoice mobile unit will be available right here in Wheatland at the First State Bank Conference Center on 16th St. the second Thursday of each month. A pregnancy decision coach and an RN along with ultrasound equipment will be there to offer services.
After determining through a pregnancy test if the woman is pregnant, Nurse Judi, the ultrasound technician, can confirm the heartbeat, gestational age and intrauterine pregnancy. If the woman is pregnant, she receives a gift bag as well as any support she might need in making a decision.
Client advocate Nurse Shelley’s job is to help the woman “…make the best decision possible with all the information that is currently available. I am here for emotional and spiritual support, not to lecture or coerce. It is our purpose to help with the woman’s ultimate decision whether to parent, adopt or abort.” Peer counseling is also offered for both men and women to explore their options.

If abortion is the decision, there is an 8-week post-abortion class called Surrendering the Secret. This is a healing journey for women and/or men who have experienced an abortion.
Clients at the main center in Cheyenne can take free prenatal classes and “earn while they learn.” They are given “baby bucks” that they can trade in for items like diapers, formula and clothing. “They continue to return to us because they know we care for them, that they are loved, supported and cared for,” said Nurse Judi. A class is offered for men called The Dad Difference.
Director Reneé Gray said, “We are passionately committed to serving the needs of pregnant women and men in Southeast Wyoming. All our client services are completely confidential and given with compassionate care.”
The LifeChoice informational brochure states, “We have been committed to serving the needs of pregnant women and men in Cheyenne and the surrounding areas. All client services are ‘no charge’ and strictly confidential.”
The mission is clearly stated: “LifeChoice exists to honor Jesus Christ by eliminating the perceived need for abortion and empowering men and women in their right to choose life.” This mobile unit and the services are supported by investors and donors from the southeast corner of Wyoming who believe in the mission. Many others give their time to drive, clean or service the unit. Outside of the main “bricks and mortar” LifeChoice Center in Cheyenne, this informational source travels to Wheatland, Torrington and Pine Bluffs. Call 307-632-6323 for an appointment or show up at the First State Bank Conference Center the second Thursday of the month (Dec. 13 is the next one).
