Michael D. “Mike” Driskell

A funeral service for Michael D. “Mike” Driskell, 21, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, May 10 at the Wheatland High School Gymnasium in Wheatland, with Pastor Jason Miller of the Oregon Trail Baptist Church in Guernsey officiating.  Interment will be in the Wheatland Cemetery.
Mike passed through the Gates of Splendor into the presence of His Savior on Thursday, May 2, the result of a motor vehicle accident southwest of Wheatland.
Michael was born on Saturday, April 25, 1998 in the Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland. He is the son of Marlin D. and Leah (Godby) Driskell of Wheatland.
Michael graduated in 2016 from Karis Christian Homeschool. He worked at Arby’s restaurant in Wheatland and took courses in gunsmithing and criminal justice. Michael also spent the last two years being a Wildland Firefighter with the Laramie Peak Fire Zone.  
Michael is a member of Oregon Trail Baptist Church in Guernsey.  Michael was actively involved in attending church, playing the violin and ushering.
Michael also enjoyed the outdoors. It started at a young age through his parents’ involvement at Camp Grace. As he grew up, he loved to hike, spend time in the mountains, and at Camp Grace. He also grew up to be an avid and successful hunter. His love for hunting and fishing caused him to purchase a lifetime small game license, a lifetime fishing license, and a lifetime conservation stamp.  Michael was a lifetime member of the NRA and a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.  
Michael is survived by his parents, Marlin and Leah Driskell; his siblings, Nicole Driskell, Kaylah Maue and husband, Andrew, Scott Tanner, and Lexi Schley; and nieces, Scarlett and Octavia Collins. He is also survived by “Grams” (Nyla Godby), and all of his aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his “Gramps”, Lewis Gene Godby.
Friends and family may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
