Melanie Stoll May 25 blog: Adventures on an island

As World Racers we do a lot of different types of work. We teach, cook, clean, speak, pray, and do manual labor. Every month is something new and exciting or maybe not exciting, but we do our best to make it fun.
This month all 15 girls from the squad came together to work at a homeless shelter and thrift shop. We all split up into different areas and my friend Megan and I had a great opportunity to help in the Kawan thrift store. Almost every day we went to the store and ironed and steamed clothes. It sounds boring but because it was mindless work I got to have some great conversations with Megan and learned to know her better. It was really a lot of fun and we learned to know and love the women that worked there. We also had a great opportunity to spend a day or two at a Chinese school on their “English day” as well as at a refugee school. (I don’t have a ton of ministry pics this month because ironing looks like ironing in all parts of the world.)
Though we work hard, we also play hard, and rest hard. Here are some of my favorite moments from our off days.

We lived about 30 minutes from the beach so we visited as often as possible!
We rode the train up to the top of Penang hill to see the sunrise over the city, and then hiked down. I definitely recommend this if you ever get the chance to visit that part of Malaysia.
The best part about the adventures Penang had to offer is that it was so easy to to feel rested because so much of it was out in nature and it was a constant reminder of how great and creative our God is!
Through my blogs I share a lot of the ministry work we do, but if you are interested in seeing the things we do on our adventure days, add me on Instagram at melanie_stoll.
