Mary Isabel (Polly) Brower White

Polly White was born Helen Elizabeth Morris at Crow Agency Montana, July 25, 1925, the daughter of Mollie Reichert Morris and James Morris and passed away July 23 in Cheyenne, WY.
She was adopted at two-years-old by Colonel and Mrs. George Brower at Fort F.E. Warren in Wyoming. With them she moved all over the United States, attending many elementary schools and four different high schools before finally graduating from Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville Florida in 1942.
She graduated magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of South Carolina in 1946 with a double major in music and English. She was an accomplished pianist and spent many years as an accompanist and choir director.
Polly taught music in both the Pueblo,  Colo. and Cheyenne schools before she married Sam White and moved to Wheatland in 1954. Starting in 1960, she had a long career as a teacher and administrator in the Wheatland schools, retiring in 1985. She then served as a member and later president of the Platte County School District Number 1 School Board.
After Sam’s death in 1993 she moved to Cheyenne to be closer to her grandchildren.
Polly enjoyed reading, music, swimming, politics and duplicate bridge. She was an ACBL life master, and long time member of Cheyenne Unit 421.
She was preceded in death by almost everyone, the penalty for living such a rich and long life.
She is survived by her daughter Kate Schaumann, son-in-law Kirk Schaumann, granddaughter Sydney Schaumann and grandson Shea Schaumann of Cheyenne. Half brother Harlan Mastenbrook of Oregon, half sister Inez Lantz of Pennsylvania, her loving nephews and niece, Mike Daly, Vic White, Peter Mastenbrook and Robin Daly Schuermann and many friends and former students,
Services will be private at a later date.
