A funeral service for Louis V. Vigil, 82, was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017 at the First Christian Church in Wheatland, with Pastor Andy Gudahl officiating.  Interment will be held at the Wheatland Cemetery.  The Vigil for the Deceased was at 6 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2017 at Gorman Funeral Homes – Platte Chapel with Father Tom Kadera.
Louis Vigil passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the Platte County Memorial Hospital.
Louis was born on October 27, 1935 the son of John V. and Bessie (Vigil) Vigil.
Louis was in the United States Air Force from 1957 to 1961 in Moreno Valley, California where he was a mechanic.  He lived in Riverside, California for a short time and worked for Dunham-Bush Heating and Air Condition.  He moved back to Wyoming to work for Union Pacific Railroad.  He met his wife in 1965 Marian Runyan and to this union they had a son, Rodger Vigil.  They decided to move back to Riverside from 1966-1969 working for Dunham-Bush Heating and Air Condition.  
The family moved back to Wyoming in 1970 where he worked for CF & I at the Sunrise Mine in Sunrise, Wyoming as a mechanic.  
While working at the Sunrise Mine he also farmed and ranched a mile and half South of Wheatland with his brother, George Vigil and father, John where his family made their home for twenty years.
In 1980 Louis went to work for Basin Electric at the Laramie River Station working as a mechanic.  He retired on January 15, 1999 from Basin Electric.
While enjoying his retirement he also repaired and maintained a few rental houses that he owned.
He is survived by his wife, Marian Vigil of Wheatland; son, Rodger Vigil of Wheatland; siblings, Emma Booth of Wheatland, George (Kathy) Vigil of Wheatland, Josie Rodriguez of San Jose, California, Alice (Dave) Romero of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Elsie (Craig) Needles of Bullhead City, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Rose, Margaret, and Kathy Vigil; brother, Alfred Vigil; and infant sister, Mary Vigil.
Serving as pallbearers were Phillip Vigil, Corey Needles, Lelen Runyan, Nikki Dirks, Terry Perdue, and Craig Needles Jr.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Ken Svigel, Rick Gulseth, and Randy Myer.
A memorial to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2232 Dell Range Boulevard, Suite 220, Cheyenne, Wyoming 82009 would be appreciated by the family.
The Gorman Funeral Homes – Platte Chapel of Wheatland were in charge of the arrangements.
