WHEATLAND – The Wheatland Lobo’s 15u team has faced challenges this season, however, the team hosted Douglas, Wednesday, July 3, winning both games. The team travelled to Rawlins on Sunday taking both of the wins as well. Currently, the last scheduled home game for the 15u Lobos will be July 10 against Laramie at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. The team will then travel to Torrington on Saturday to play at 1 p.m. & 3 p.m.
Lobo’s 17u traveled to Douglas Wednesday, winning the first game 11-5. It was an even matchup thru the first five innings, the team then scored seven runs in the sixth holding the Cats to only one additional run. Starting off strong in the second game with three runs, the Lobos were unable to shut down the Cats in the fifth inning as the Cats brought in five additional runs, resulting in 5-13 loss. The 17u Lobo team also attended the Laramie Tournament this past weekend where the team went 2-1 in pool play claiming second seat for Sunday games. In first game, Karr was on the mound against the Casper Barons for the 16-4 win. Warren aided the team with two triples along with doubles from Preuit and Borton. Laramie Deputies took lead early in second game. Though defense was strong as Suko led the team claiming 3 fly outs in left field, Lobos struggled getting bats on balls taking 2-10 loss. Lobos clinched the 12-8 win against Douglas Cats Saturday morning with each of the ten players being successful on the base paths. Whitfield, Petroski, and Warren aided the success with 9 stolen bases combined. Sunday, the team faced the Deputies again. Though the Lobos sprung to a quick lead, the team was unable to restrain the Deputies, taking the 6-14 loss.
