Lobo varsity wins district

TORRINGTON — Wheatland Lobo varsity went 3-0 in Wyoming Legion East “A” Districts this last week and will enter the State Tournament seated first.
Thursday, the Lobos faced the Cheyenne Hawks as pitcher Joel Anderson went five complete innings and began the sixth before the game was postponed due to weather. Anderson only surrendered one run while striking out six in his five innings. With the Lobos leading 2-1 as the game resumed Friday, Mytch Pollock picked up where Anderson left off only allowing one additional run, closing out the game with final score 7-2.

Friday evening, the Lobos played the Douglas Cats taking the win 9-1. Ned Hageman was on the mound and only allowed one run on three hits. Joel Anderson got things started at the plate as his double brought in the first scoring run in the first inning. The fourth inning saw Sarad and Joel Anderson both adding doubles to the team’s 10 total hits in the four-inning game.
The Lobos and Torrington Tigers battled Saturday evening with the Lobos recording the 10-3 win. Pollock had nine strikeouts during his four and a quarter innings, allowing three runs on four hits. Kobey Preuit closed out the seven-inning game with one strikeout, surrendering only one hit.
The Lobos’ bats were on fire during the Tigers game as Pollock brought in the first scoring run of game with a double, Cross Hernandez doubled with bases loaded sending in three runners, Joel Anderson and Kaleb Peterson each added doubles, and John Sarad contributed both a double and triple to the team’s 10 hits.
The Lobos travel to Torrington this week for the Wyoming State “A” Legion Baseball Tournament. Seated first, they will face Green River on Wednesday to begin their bracket play.
