WHEATLAND – “FEED ME SEYMOUR” is the line most are familiar with when remembering both the stage play and movie, “Little Shop of Horrors.”

According to film critic Hannah Montaniwitz, “Seymour Krelborn is a nerdy orphan working at Mushnik’s, a flower shop in urban Skid Row. He harbors a crush on fellow co-worker Audrey Fulquard, and is berated by Mr. Mushnik daily. One day as Seymour is seeking a new mysterious plant, he finds a very mysterious unidentified plant which he calls Audrey II. The plant seems to have a craving for blood and soon begins to sing for his supper. Soon enough, Seymour feeds Audrey’s sadistic dentist boyfriend to the plant and later, Mushnik for witnessing the death of Audrey’s ex. Will Audrey II take over the world or will Seymour and Audrey defeat it?”
The show times in the WHS auditorium are April 29 and 30 at 7 p.m. and May 1 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for ages 5 and up and free for ages 0-4. Tickets are available at the door or by reservation (contact the high school and ask for Evan Bradley).
The show is a musical by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman based on the 1960 film by Roger Corman and Charles B. Griffith. The show is rated PG-13 “for mature thematic material including comic horror violence, substance abuse, language and sex references.”
The show is directed by Stephanie Bradley, a WHS Alumnus with musical supervision by Wheatland Band Director Evan Bradley. This is the school’s first musical theater production since the spring of 2014.
