Lillian “June” Coulter, 83, of Casper passed away on Dec. 11, due to complications from heart surgery.
June was born May 26, 1937, in Blackhawk, Colo., to Glen and Elizabeth Whinery. She grew up in Wheatland, graduating from Wheatland High School in 1955. On Oct. 12, 1958, she married James “Jim” Coulter. They lived wherever Jim’s road construction job took them until 1965, when they purchased their home in Casper. June was still living in this home when she passed away.
June was a devoted wife and mother to she and Jim’s two children. She enjoyed taking care of her family and home, bearing much of the responsibility of raising their children due to Jim’s job taking him out of town. When her kids were grown, she traveled with Jim and his job throughout Wyoming. When Jim retired in 1999, they spent most summers camping in the Big Horn Mountains and at Alcova Lake, enjoying the outdoors and wildlife. June’s love for her husband was most evident as she cared for him through numerous illnesses until Jim passed away in January 2017. They were married for 58 years.
In addition to camping and traveling in the mountains, June enjoyed working in her yard, which was filled with colorful flowers each summer and the birds she fed.  She also like to crochet, cross-stitch, and sew quilts. Spending time with her children and grandchildren was also important to her.
June had a caring heart, donating what she could to charities helping sick children, children in foster care, the homeless, families in need and hospice. She had great appreciation for Veterans who have been injured serving our country and donated often to the Wounded Warrior Project.
June will be greatly missed by her family and friends. They are comforted knowing she is with our Heavenly Father.
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” (1 Corinthians 2: 9)
June is survived by her daughter Julie Coulter of Evansville; her son Jerry Coulter (Holly) of Gillette; her grandson Walker Coulter (Karson) of Gillette and granddaughter Shelby Coulter of Gillette. She is also survived by her sisters Glenda Goetz (Freddie) of Wheatland and Mary Ann Riley of Beallsville, Ohio.
June is preceded in death by her husband James Coulter; her parents Glen and Elizabeth Whinery; and her brother Dean Whinery.
June requested no services be held. The family will hold a private celebration of life in the spring of 2021.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to a charity of the giver’s choice in honor of June.
