She was raised on the Moore ranch up by Sybille Canyon.  Leona attended school at the Sybille School which usually had five to seven kids.  She came to town to attend high school and graduated from Wheatland High School.  She attended the University of Wyoming summer school in 1950 and received her teaching certificate.  She married Donald Quentin Gudahl on Dec. 6, 1950 in Wheatland at the First Christian Church.  Ten days later Don left for the Korean Conflict.
Leona taught school for one year at the Sybille School and a year at the ranch.  One of her best memories of teaching at Sybille is taking the kids to chop down a Christmas tree up in the canyon above Shamrock.
Leona helped and volunteered for anything that would help her kids, her church, and her community. She served as PTA president, 4-H group leader, and director of Vacation Bible School at the First Christian Church. She was a Gray Lady at the hospital for many years and served on the hospital auxiliary as president for two years.  She was in charge of birthday parties at the nursing home for years and gave a party every month.  She was a member of the Garden Club, as gardening was a passion of hers.  One of her favorite holidays was Christmas and spending time with her family during their Christmas Eve traditions.
She is survived by her loving husband, Donald Gudahl; children, Donna Artery, Karen (Curt) Artery, and Steve Gudahl; grandchildren, Jeran (Mike) Artery, Brad (Mary) Artery, Josh (Marcia) Artery, Tanda (Martin) Hicks, and Quent (Brooke) Gudahl; and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
