CHEYENNE — Recent and proposed laws by Congress that impact military pay, benefits and missions will be the topic of discussion in Cheyenne by a legislative expert on May 11, according to a news release issued by the Wyoming Military Officers Association.
Retired Army Col. Terri Coles, senior director of council and chapter affairs for the Military Officers Association of America, will address the effects of legislation on active duty, Guard and Reserve personnel and programs, as well as their indirect impacts on the local and state economies.
“Because of the importance of this topic, we are inviting all military and the general public to attend,” Col. Thomas Hutchings, president of the Wyoming Military Officers Association, stated in the release. “Actions by those in Congress are directly affecting the health and lives of all military personnel and their families, regardless of their pay grade or whether they’re on active duty, in the Guard, Reserve, retired or prior service.

“We believe it’s important to invite the general public because these congressional actions also significantly impact the people and economy of Wyoming and the surrounding communities.”
The event will begin with social time at 6 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 at the Red Lion Hotel (formerly the Radisson), 204 W. Fox Farm Road in Cheyenne. The cost is $23 per person. Entrees include three peppercorn roast beef, bacon chicken dijon or vegetarian. Salad and dessert are included.
Those attending need to notify Mary Brown of the number in their party and dinner entrée selection no later than May 7 at mbrownltc@aol.com or 307-630-6668.
The Wyoming Military Officers Association is a chapter of the Military Officers Association of America dedicated to maintaining a strong national defense and ensuring the nation keeps its commitments to currently serving, retired and former members of the seven uniformed services, as well as their families and survivors.
