Funeral liturgy for Laurel Elaine Zavorka, 58, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Wheatland, Wyoming with Father Tom Kadera as the Celebrant.  A Vigil for the Deceased will be held at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the Saint Patrick’s Church with Deacon Terry Archbold.
Laurel Zavorka died Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the Platte County Legacy Home in Wheatland.
Laurel was born Wednesday, September 23, 1959 in Torrington, Wyoming the daughter of Jake and Frieda Caroline (Lepp) Stienmetz.  
 She grew up in Torrington and later graduated from Torrington High School. She went to Eastern Wyoming College where she earned her Associate of Arts Degree.  She then went on to study nursing at the University of Nebraska where she graduated earning her Bachelor’s Degree in nursing.
 Prior to finishing her Nursing degree, Laurel married Steven Zavorka of Torrington on December 6, 1980. They had one daughter prior to moving to Wheatland where they settled down to raise their family.
 Laurel enjoyed her work as a registered nurse for over twenty years. She enjoyed being outdoors, doing crafts, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was the kindest person to everyone she met. She always saw the positive in any situation and had a very happy life. Laurel will be missed terribly; her family will continue to keep her alive in memories and through her grandchildren.
Laurel is survived by her husband, Steven Zavorka of Wheatland; daughter and son in law, Tessa and James (Zavorka) Mayor of Dacono Colorado; grandchildren, Jake and Laurelynn Mayor; brothers and sisters; Diana Foster of Oceanside, California, Jeannette Covello of Torrington, Thomas Stienmetz of Torrington, Susan (Dan) Hathaway of Billings, Montana, John (Jenness) Stienmetz of Torrington, Dean Stienmetz of Torrington, Theodore (Ronda) Stienmetz of Casper, Wyoming, and  Carolyn (Ray) Thompson  of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and  a vast amount of nieces and nephews. Laurel had a large family that loved her very much.

The family would like to thank the Wheatland and Torrington communities as well as her friends for the love, prayers and support. It is clear that she had a positive impact on every life that she touched.
