WHEATLAND – The Wheatland Lady Bulldogs suffered a loss at home Saturday against Rawlins, 71-39, despite big scoring efforts from five different girls.
“Turnovers and miscues were our Achilles heel,” coach Sally Nichols said. “Rawlins capitalized on most of our turnovers, turning them into points.”
Danielle Britz was the top scorer for the Lady Bulldogs, notching eight points, while Khayla Otero and Loren Mann each kicked in seven points. Otero also filled her stat line with seven rebounds, which was second on the team.
Danielle Brow turned in six points, along with eight boards and four steals, both of which were team-highs. Kyra Calfy chipped in six points in the loss as well.
“It was good to see scoring spread out between five of our gals,” Nichols said. “Our ladies fought to the finish and played with intensity the entire game.”
The Lady Bulldogs dropped to 3-17 on the year, with a 1-5 record in the quadrant. They are the fourth seed from the quadrant heading into the 3A East Regional Tournament this weekend in Douglas. Wheatland’s first game of the tournament comes Thursday at 11:30 a.m. against Buffalo.
