Kiwanis Discovery Day a hit

WHEATLAND — The local Kiwanis Discovery Day, in its second year, was a huge success, according to a news release from Wheatland Kiwanis Club.
There were over 400 people in attendance at any given time during the event, which was May 5 at the Platte County Fire Training Center.
Kiwanis appreciates the Platte County Fire Training Board for providing the location for this event.
Children enjoyed climbing on the heavy equipment brought in by Missouri Basin Power Project, Wheatland REA, Hillside Rental, Wyoming Machinery Company, Lock Trucking, The Tire Store, U.S. Postal Service, Wyoming Child and Family Development, Rick Robbins, Bob Ruwart Motors, town of Wheatland and Wyoming Highway Department, as well as all the emergency vehicles brought by Platte County Sheriff’s Department, Wheatland Police Department, Wheatland Fire Department, Antelope Gap Fire Department., Banner Health Ambulance, and the Wyoming Highway Patrol. Wheatland Fire entertained the children with a large spout of water shooting high into the air for them to run under, cool off and have a great time. Even their parents were enjoying the scene while camping out on the sidelines watching their children.
Kiwanis reports looking forward to next year already, just knowing how much this free event means to local communities.
