A funeral service for Jonathan LeRoy “Jon” Van Wey, 18, will be Thursday, May 9, held at 4:30 p.m. at the Wheatland High School Gymnasium in Wheatland with Pastor Jeremy Haroldson of the Impact Church in Wheatland officiating.  Interment will be in the Wheatland Cemetery.
Jon Van Wey passed away on Thursday, May 2 as a result of a motor vehicle accident near Wheatland.
Jon was born Thursday, March 8, 2001 in Wheatland, the son of Candice Boersma.
Jon was reared and educated in Wheatland and just graduated from Wheatland Peak High School on April 8.  Jon was a kid who loved to be outdoors whether it was working on his truck or hunting, fishing, or being on the lake with his friends and family. He enjoyed playing basketball and collecting Nike tennis shoes. He didn’t wear them but if he did, you better believe he was cleaning them right as they came off his feet. He was a kid that loved to help anybody out and loved to talk with just about anybody he came in contact with. Jon especially loved to be with his family.
He is survived by his mom, Candice Boersma of Wheatland; siblings, Anthony Beatty of Cheyenne, Ava and Roman Boersma both of Wheatland; maternal grandparents, Maudine (Chris) Locy of Wheatland; great grandmother, Betty Sinnard of Wheatland; and several aunts, uncles, great aunts and uncles; and cousins, Braxton, Olive, and Bentley of Wheatland and Riley, Trenton, and Jacob of Casper.
