Joel Raymond Bennett, 42, passed away quietly in his sleep Thursday, Dec. 5 at his home in Wheatland.
Born in Wheatland, the son of Alan and Marjorie (Wilson) Bennett on Thursday, June 9, 1977, Joel spent his life helping on the family farm. He also worked as a laborer in many fields of work including well-drilling, bricklaying, mixing industrial cement, planting trees in burned forest, road construction, lawn and yard care, snow shoveling and cleaning. He had a gift for making music and had a heart to help others in need. Cats were drawn to him and he had a special touch with them. He could employ great wit at the perfect times to cause a person not only to laugh but to stop and think about something in a new way. His greatest joy was in his son. He was one of a kind and will be truly missed by his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ellis Arthur and Pauline Rosalee (Fertig) Wilson, and paternal grandfather, Billy Eugene Bennett.
He is survived by his son, Austin Bennett; grandmother, Alvina (Kautz) Bennett; parents, Alan and Marjorie Bennett; brother, Alan (Alena) Bennett Jr.; sister, Lisa (Timothy) Phelps; nieces, Caysha Bennett, Lilyonna Bennett and Annabelle Phelps; nephews, Broderic Brant, Collin Bennett, Benjamin Bennett, Ethan Phelps, Kendall Phelps, Jeremiah Phelps, and Robert Phelps; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
