WHEATLAND — The Wyoming Cowboy Hall of Fame inducted the late Dick Jarrard into its ranks at a presentation Friday at the Platte County Fair just before the 4-H livestock auction.
Jarrard’s wife, Sharron Jerrard, accepted the plaque commemorating the honor since Dick Jarrard died last October. The Jarrards ranched in southeast Wyoming until Dick retired in 2009.
WCHF Platte County committee member Connie Kersting said the WCHF is a fairly new nonprofit created to acknowledge exceptional cowboys, ranchers and agriculturally involved people throughout the state. Each county submits nominations for the WCHF annually.
“The first recipients we had were Les Gore and Bob Grant … they were good pillars in the community,” Kersting said. “Bob was a legislator. Les was on the fair board and brought a lot of stuff into the county.”
