WHEATLAND — A Guernsey man is facing charges in 8th Judicial District Court for allegedly abusing his elderly mother.
Court documents report Ernie L. Lamphear Jr. was charged with abuse of a vulnerable adult.

According to the criminal affidavit for probable cause filed June 8 in District
Court by an officer with the Guernsey Police Department, the officer responded to a Guernsey home June 7 for a welfare check on an elderly woman there. The woman reported her son beat her when the two argued about whether she stole money from him, according to the affidavit.
The affidavit reports the elderly woman had bruises on her face, arm and leg. The woman was taken by ambulance to Platte County Memorial Hospital, and the hospital said they were keeping the elderly woman because they were concerned she may not be able to care for herself, according to the officer’s affidavit.
If convicted on the charge, Lamphear could be sentenced up to 10 years in prison and/or fined up to $10,000.
