Governor makes decision due to health department guidelines

In a statement issued by the Wyoming State Health Department and labeled Statewide Public Health Order #3, there has been a temporary closure of nail salons, hair salons, barber shops, massage parlors, tattoo, body art and piercing shops, cosmetology, electrology and esthetic services.
Janice Faris, owner of Jan’s Cut-N-Yak was in her shop doing some rescheduling this morning. She is not, however allowed to do any haircuts, colors or have any contact with the public. The order came through the cosmetology websites and via a Facebook message by Gov. Mark Gordon March 24 at approximately 4 p.m.
“They have told us to remain closed until April 3,” Farris said. “I’m going to forward my calls to my cellphone and my home and just get everyone rescheduled, and then self-quarantine, I guess. That’s about all the options we have and I just hope that everyone unites together, and… just be strong because it’s going to take unity to get through this even at a distance.”

The directive comes after reports that in less than one week’s time, Wyoming’s Coronavirus patients have sprung up from 1 case to now 41.
Another salon owner in Wheatland, Holly Wendling of 307 Roots said, “As of right now, the hair and spa services have been suspended, but we are able to be open for tanning and our boutique. My hair business is my main business. This is my main income and the bread and butter that run my business. I’ve been doing this for 30 years, and in that time, I never thought that we would ever be shut down.”
Both salons have employees who are concerned with the temporary layoff and with the new stimulus package checks that will not arrive until May, the personal pencil will have to be sharpened on the home budgets.
