Gladys Elaine Jamtgaard, 80, passed away on Aug. 4 in Bismarck, N.D. A memorial service will take place Saturday, Aug. 10 at 10 a.m., at the Bismarck Funeral Home. Burial will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery later this fall.
Gladys was born on April 22, 1939, to Ruben and Hulda (Hummel) Schlenker, in McLean County, ND. She married L.J. “Whitey” Jamtgaard, on Oct. 20, 1957. They spent 54 years together until he passed away in 2011. Together they had two sons, Mark and Joel.
She is survived by two sons, Mark (Joanne) Jamtgaard, of Gillette and Joel Jamtgaard, of Bismarck, N.D.; grandchildren, Cody Jamtgaard, Bowman, N.D., Jessie Jamtgaard, Denver, Colo., Austin Jamtgaard, Lincoln, N.D., Scott Jamtgaard, Denver, Colo.; and two great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, L.J. “Whitey” and brother, Howard Schlenker.
