Georgia Carol (Grant) Reader passed away Thursday, May 3, 2018, at the age of 77. Georgia was born Dec. 3, 1940, in Laramie. She grew up on the Cooney Hills Ranch west of Wheatland, where she acquired the pride and self-resilience that would follow her the rest of her life. She graduated from Wheatland High School and later Barnes Business College in Den ver. It was after moving to Denver that she would meet her future husband, James Howard Reader. They were married for 15 years until his passing in 1976.
After retiring as an executive administrative assistant, Georgia began volunteering at the Littleton Adventist Hospital’s gift shop where she was the top salesperson for 10 years. Volunteering was her passion. Even after being admitted to the hospital, Georgia made sure to tell the hospital staff to go down and purchase something from the gift shop.
Georgia was predeceased by her parents George and Peggy Grant, and sister Dorothy Mattive. She is survived by her sons Michael (Tracy) and timothy Reader; four grandchildren, Christine, Steven, Andrew and Alex; four great-grandchildren, Jocelyn, Levi, Bentley and Taylor; her sister Mickey and brother-in-law Fred McGuire; and nieces Mary Kay Hunter and Trish Vineyard. Ashes will be interred at a later date at the Cooney Hills Ranch.
