I have given much thought to exercise lately. I joined a fitness center which has some wonderful classes. The trainer is excellent making sure during that all the students are doing all the different moves correctly. Each class is an hour long and we work at our own pace and ability. It has amazed me how much, in just 3 weeks, it has helped in my balance, stress, and energy level.

Exercising—Yuck or Yeah?

I have given much thought to exercise lately. I joined a fitness center which has some wonderful classes. Probably like you, I keep very busy so to drive nine miles and spend 1 or 2 hours in training classes is really a sacrifice of time. I had to make myself get up earlier than usual to make this work in my day. I did not want to do this but I took control and told myself--You are doing this! Now I look forward to this time because I know if I am benefiting from it in this short time, it will really cause so many more benefits with more time.
I thought, if this helps me in the physical realm, I’m sure exercising in the spiritual realm would benefit me! I looked up the word exercise and it means training. We are to train our body to be fit and strong, and we are to do the training in the things of God. We are to train in the word of God.

We might have to take control and tell ourselves we are going to spend time with the things of God. Before long, we will look forward to our time and want to spend more and more time in the Word.
We must read to know what it says; then do what it says for our spirit man to be strong and fit. The Apostle Paul tells Timothy: If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed. But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness. For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come (I Timothy 4:6-8).
Notice it says bodily exercise profits little but it does profit, but godliness is so much more important. I have a trainer in class to keep me working correctly and I have the Word of God as a trainer to keep me doing correctly. We need both and both are a sacrifice of our time. Our time is God’s time so we need to enjoy our time spent to both learn and do. We want to keep both physically and spiritually fit and strong. That takes training and we will experience all the benefits!
