No funeral services will be held for Doris Irene Leonard, 85.
Doris Leonard died Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the Platte County Legacy Home in Wheatland.
She was born Saturday, June 25, 1932 in Guernsey, Wyoming the daughter of Alan M. and Mary M. (McClure) Downey. She was raised and educated in Glendo, Wyoming, graduating from Glendo High School. She attended one year of college. Doris was married to Boyd Ray Leonard on December 9, 1951 in Wheatland. She and Boyd farmed and ranched north of Glendo, and later east of Glendo. They both loved their life of farming and raising their three daughters in the country. They lived in Story after retiring, later moving to Glendo and spending summers in Story.
Doris was a member of the Glendo Community Church in Glendo. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Patti Jo (Brad) Thompson of Wheatland and Elizabeth Ann (Dave) Ackerman of Story; two brothers, Tom Downey of Tempe, Ariz., and Jim Downey of Roseburg, Ore.; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Boyd, on March 27, 1998; daughter, Marcia Rae Leonard; and sister, Eloise Richardson.
The Gorman Funeral Homes – Platte Chapel of Wheatland are in charge of the arrangements.
