Deanna Snell Cross, 71, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 3 at Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland.
Deanna was born Monday, Nov. 3, 1947, in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of L. Dean and Shirley (Scarrow) Snell.
Deanna was reared and educated in north central Iowa, a high school graduate of Nora Springs-Rock Falls Community School. She earned her Associate’s Degree at NIACC then went on to the University of Iowa. After moving to Colorado, she started working in accounting then formed her own accounting business specializing in serving small businesses and non-profit organizations, Business and Professional Services, in downtown Denver.
Deanna was the editor of the newsletter for the Public Accountants Society of Colorado, a member of the Wyoming Association of Public Accountants, and the National Society of Accountants. Deanna loved music having learned to play several instruments and was a member of The Colorado Chorale. She married Robert L. Cross on May 17, 1980 in Evergreen, Colo. They shared time between Colorado and Wyoming operating Cross Business Services, Inc. Deanna was an early investor in the Flying X Ranch. After marrying Bob, they were one of the early partners in Guide Rock LTD, which insured the health and longevity of the Flying X Ranch. She was a member of the Platte County Chamber of Commerce and was very passionate about Platte County Animal Welfare Services (P.A.W.S.), having fostered cats.
She is survived by her mother, Shirley Snell of Ames, Iowa; step-daughters Beth (Josh) Rosen and Jennifer (George Salzmann) Cross, both of Colorado; brothers, Brian (Mary) Snell of Nora Springs, Iowa and Mark (Cindy) Snell of Norwalk, Iowa; and sister, Sue (Randy) Griffith of Ames, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Cross and father, Dean Snell.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a private service at a later date.
