CHUGWATER — Two Chugwater Town Council seats are coming up for election this August.
Applications and filing fees will be accepted beginning May 17. Deadline for candidate filing with the Platte County Election Department is June 1.
The Chugwater Town Council agreed to make the town a sponsor for Platte County Youth Baseball during the council’s regular meeting April 9, according to meeting minutes.
Council members voted unanimously to donate $150 to the program.
The program is run solely on donations, according to the minutes. The youth do raffles and other fundraisers to sustain their teams.

In other business, the council declined to provide funding to Wyoming Child and Family Development because there were no funds allocated in the town’s budget for the organization.
The council also discussed information technology issues. Chugwater will order the Quick Books 2018 upgrade, as well as check into backing up the town’s software. Council also discussed UB Max versus Clerk Books utility billing software, finding Clerk Books was more user-friendly.
Regarding a billboard issue, council declined to change Ordinance 222. Pam Nesius had requested the change so she could sell a billboard to a privately owned company.
Utilities Director Steve Kelley reported Ron Eicher resigned from his position as backup water operator.
The town is still waiting on Alex Cadar’s progress report regarding the Chug-Chug Gas and Go, which was previously reported to have electrical issues.
In other business, the Chugwater Town Council:
▪ Accepted the treasurer’s report.
▪ Apppointed Angela St. John and RaeCe Wilkerson to fill two vacancies on the Community Center Board.
▪ Accepted the town bills and expenses.
