Chugwater Ladies Aid donates final salute quilts to VA

CHUGWATER – The Chugwater Ladies Aid Group just finished two ‘Final Salute’ quilts they will donate to the VA in Cheyenne.
The following is taken from the Voluntary Service newsletter for the VA:  “Our Chaplain Service is desperate in need of ‘Final Salute’ quilts for the Community Living Center Hospice Unit. These quilts are given to veterans when they become hospice patients, so they can have them and use them while they are in the Community Living Center. When they pass away, the quilts are laid on their gurneys. As a veteran is taken down the hall, the veteran’s family and many employees line the halls saluting or putting their hand over their hearts signifying the “Final Salute”. We ask that the red, white and blue quilts be made 4.5’ W X 8’ L.” To inquire further about these quilts, or to find out what other things the VA might need for veterans, please call either Bob, Linda, Sandra or Barb with Volunteer Services at the VA in Cheyenne. They may be reached at  (307) 778-7317.
