Cemetery ladies seek help

Posted

Every year about this time plans are made in consideration of the Memorial Day celebration coming up Monday, May 28. That entire weekend, many people visit the local cemetery to pay respects to those who have passed before us. Volunteers are needed to help prepare the cemetery.
The row markers will be put down May 12 at 2 p.m.
The plan is to have the Avenue of Flags down by Memorial Day. Perhaps the north and south streets, Faith and Glory, will be completed by then also.
We need volunteers with hilti guns to attach the plaques for the row markers. If you have one of these guns, the shots and nails would be supplied to you.
Call 322-9885 if you would supply a gun and your time to help with this community project.
If there is a family member whose ashes have been scattered, inurned or buried some place other than in the Wheatland Cemetery but the person was a part of this community, be advised that the south building at the entry of the cemetery is where they can be noted. There are over 50 plaques already on the wall in that building honoring those who made their mark on the Platte County community. The $20 plaques must be ordered by the end of April each year in order that they may be completed and up for Memorial Day.
Forms to sign up hang in the building under the window, or call 322-9885 and Pat will see that you get one.
