Betty Ash passed away on June 30 at Platte County Legacy Home in Wheatland.
Betty was born on Nov. 10, 1924 in Diamond to Henry and Bertha Gustafson. Shortly thereafter the family would move to Chugwater. It was there that she attended school, graduating in 1941. In that same year, she and Boyd Ash married. They made their home there on the farm until 1985 when they moved to Wheatland.
Boyd and Betty had three children son Zackrey, Margaret Ann and Delores. She is survived by son Zackrey (Judy) of Wheatland; grandchildren Lance and Heather. Daughter Delores, grandchildren Gary and Rebecca and great-grandchildren Ryan, Jade and Brier.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and sisters Helen, Wyona and Jean.
Betty was a daughter first, a sister, wife, a wonderful mother, but always a musician. Her beautiful piano playing was well known in her community, especially her church congregation.
She was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Octavo Music Club, Eastern Star and Ladies Aide of the Methodist Church.
Betty loved to play games with her friends and family; bridge being a favorite. She never let anyone win, even her grandkids.
Being a farm wife was never easy but she never backed down from a challenge. Her late husband Boyd and she always worked together to provide for their family and hoped to buy that new car after harvest if possible. Her family would like to thank the staff at Country Club Living where she resided from 2013 until one week before her passing.
Private graveside services were held on July 3.
