WHEATLAND – On April 25-26 Basin electric allowed their employee Jason Evans to come to Wheatland High School to teach OSHA 10 to a group of shop students.
“Basin said that they wanted to donate me to this cause,” Evans said. “It’s been a great opportunity for the students and we’ve done a lot of learning in a short period of time.”
These types of opportunities are invaluable to these students’ futures and as such, the shop students of Wheatland High School, Matt Hazen, and Platte County School District #1 said that they would like to give a huge shoutout and thank you to Basin Electric and Jason Evans for donating their time, people, and resources to certify the shop students with OSHA 10.
This certification will give them a head start with their upcoming careers.
“It is incredible to have such a valuable resource in Platte County,” Hazen said.

Passions and Goals:
As a safety professional my main goal is to educate and work with all ages and mindsets of people. My biggest goal is that through my instruction and life experiences that people think about their person occupational safety and health and go home at the end of the day to the people they love.

Work history:
I started out life straight out of Wheatland High School and went to EWC for welding. I welded and managed welders at a young age all while also focusing on occupational health and safety. Because of a life changing event I took a liking to the Emergency Medical Field and became an EMT. I went on to become an Advanced Life Medic and purchased Eastern Wyoming Ambulance service in Wheatland. I owned and operated EWAS for many years. I sold EWAS to Banner Health and got back into the roots of Occupational Safety and Health. I worked for another company all while building my safety credentials and then focused on One Stop Safety here in Wheatland. I was offered a career change to become the Safety Coordinator for Basin Electric and took the opportunity. I still own One Stop Safety and work as a safety consultant to many businesses. I mainly focus on training and education of OSHA and other safety topics outside of being the safety coordinator for Basin Electric.
