CHUGWATER — Carol Ash has stepped down from the Chugwater Town Council, and Joe Schirmer was named to fill the vacant council seat during the council’s regular meeting Monday.
Mayor Lisa Redding read Ash’s resignation letter, which stated Ash was stepping down because she would not be able to attend meetings due to unspecified personal matters. Ash was appointed by the council to fill a vacant seat a few months ago.
Redding nominated Schirmer to fill the position since he was already on the ballot to run for council this year. Only Councilor Eric Marlatt opposed the motion to accept Ash’s resignation and appoint Schirmer.

In other business, the council heard no report on the progress of Chug-Chug Gas and Go since Ash had been the council member giving those reports.
Donna Enix, assistant town clerk/treasurer, announced she was leaving her position. Clerk/Treasurer Linda Webster said she would post the opening Tuesday.
The Chugwater Town Council took the following actions:
Approved the third and final reading of Ordinance 307, the town’s fiscal year 2018-19 budget.
Approved a catering permit for Buffalo Lodge & Grill for the Chugwater Chili Cook-Off next weekend.
Ratified the Wyoming Business Council’s second amendment to the Community Development Block Grant agreement that made the opening of Chug-Chug possible.
