Annella Ruth (Call) Jones, age 87 of Laramie, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017 at Ivinson Memorial Hospital. She was born on Thanksgiving Day November 25, 1929 to Joseph J. Call and Ruth J. Smith Call on their ranch in Marshall, Wyoming. The family lived there until 1937 when they moved to a lower elevation, Cottonwood Creek, because Ann had breathing problems. Ann and her two sisters, Tilly and Claire, along with their parents, lived there until Ann was 12 years old. At that time she and her older sister moved to Wheatland to go to school. Ann worked at the Pioneer Pharmacy, Soda Fountain and Restaurant until she graduated from Wheatland High School in 1947.
Ann and Charley Mack Jones got married June 1, 1947. The couple had two daughters, Christine and Leslee. This was not to be the extent of their family. In August 1956, after Tilly’s death, Mack, Ann, and their two children moved to Longmont, Colorado to help raise her five nieces and nephews: DiAnne, Don, Chuck, Mike, and Shelley. Even though the four older niece and nephews did not always live with Mack and Ann, Shelley was raised with Christine and Leslee. The seven children were raised as brothers and sisters. Four years after their move to Longmont the family returned to Wheatland.
In Ann’s younger years she enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and camping with the family and she joined several bowling leagues with her friends. Although Ann never did work outside the home, she did become a well-known seamstress in Wheatland.
Mack died November 2006, and although she missed Mack every day she was never really alone. Ann enjoyed phone calls and visits from her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. When Ann died she was proud to refer herself as great, great grandma to yet another generation.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, her brother-in-law, granddaughter, and a number of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be at 1 pm Saturday, July 15th, at Lewis Park, 306 8th St, Wheatland, Wyoming.
Following the celebration of life, join the family for a potluck; bring your favorite covered dish.
