Alyce Luwe, 96, of Grundy Center, formerly of Wheatland, Wyoming passed away Wednesday, August 2nd to natural causes. A private service will be held in Colorado at a later date. Alyce (Beving) Luwe was born on June 28, 1921 to John and Maggie (Willems) Beving on a farm near Wellsburg Iowa. Alyce attended Wellsburg high school and the University of Northern Iowa earning her teaching certificate and taught for several years. In July of 1940, Alyce was united in marriage to Vinson Luwe. Vinson enlisted in the service and Alyce accompanied him along his journey to different military bases throughout World War 2. After the war, they settled in Littleton, Colorado until their retirement when they moved to Wheatland, Wyoming in 1992. Alyce was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Wheatland.
Alyce served as a field reviewer for the Census Bureau in the 60’s and also worked at J.C. Pennys as a credit authorizer. Later she worked as an accounts payables supervisor in the book department at the University of Denver. Alyce enjoyed spending time reading, traveling, and tending to her roses.
Alyce is survived by her children Shelby (Shirley) Luwe of Grundy Center, Steven (Diane) Luwe, of Vashon Island, WA, Kathryn (Ken) Mills of Aurora, CO, Gail (William) Vinett of Nashville, TN; brother Leroy (Carol) Beving; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Alyce is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband Vinson.
