Alleged naked speeders face speed charges

WHEATLAND — A couple of Dakotans are fit to be tried this fall in 8th Judicial District Court for their alleged contributions to the methamphetamine trade, according to District Court documents.
Jonathon Martin Chamley and Victoria Lynn Aker, both of the same address in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, were each charged with felony meth dealing and misdemeanor marijuana possession stemming from a traffic stop made by a Platte County Sheriff’s deputy in January.
Chamley was charged with possession of meth with intent to deliver, Aker with manufacture or delivery of meth, and both were charged with possession of less than 3 ounces marijuana.

According to the criminal affidavit filed in court, the deputy caught a 2005 Chevrolet with South Dakota plates speeding on Interstate 25 about 7:29 a.m. Jan. 18.
The deputy pulled the vehicle over and made contact with the couple inside.
Upon contact, the deputy reportedly discovered both the driver, Aker, and Chamley the passenger half nude. Aker allegedly told the deputy the couple had been “fooling around” so her attention wasn’t fully on her driving.
The deputy allegedly detected the scent of marijuana during the stop. Aker and Chamley consented to a search of their vehicle, according to the affidavit.
The deputy searched the vehicle, allegedly finding a black shave bag full of evidence: a digital scale; 60 grams, or just over 2 ounces, meth; two bags of needles; three smoking pipes, one with meth residue and two with marijuana residue; and 1 gram of marijuana.
Both Aker and Chamley pleaded not guilty at their arraignments, and both waived their rights to a preliminary hearing in District Court. Aker’s case has been set for jury trial, with a pre-trial conference scheduled for September.
